The Consulate of Vietnam requires that the visa application be completed online, printed, and submitted to VisaConnection with the rest of your documents. The form can be found at https://visa.mofa.gov.vn/_layouts/registration/ApplicationForm.aspx. If the form opens in Vietnamese then click "English", located in the upper-right corner of the page. Your completed application must:

Canadian-led APEC Projects
If you are travelling to Vietnam to oversee Canadian-led APEC projects, then you will need to apply for the visa on your own. The Embassy does not allow 3rd parties to secure this type of special visa.
Loose-Leaf Visa – Single Entry Visas Only
The Consulate of Vietnam offers a loose-leaf visa, a process that permits you to apply for the visa without submitting your passport to the Consulate. If you select a loose-leaf visa all of the above requirements apply with two exceptions. First, you must supply two passport photographs. Secondly, you must submit a photocopy of your passport information page instead of your actual passport. You must attach the loose-leaf visa in your passport after receipt.
Traveller Registration (Highly Recommended)
Feel safer and travel with peace of mind by using our Traveller Registration Service. Registration notifies the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development where and when you will be travelling, enabling the Government of Canada to reach you in case of an emergency abroad or inform you of an emergency at home. To enroll in this optional service complete the registration form in this kit and send it to us with the rest of your documents.
Multiple Entry Applications
If you are requesting a multiple-entry visa, you must provide a flight itinerary showing all entry and exit dates.

The best time to apply for your Vietnam visa is 1-2 months before your travel date. -
Do I have to send you my passport to get a Vietnam visa? Is it safe to send a passport?
Yes. You will need to send your actual passport, not a copy of it. The Vietnam visa is stamped on your passport and will become one of your passport pages.
